This mod changes completly the naval balance to be as realistic as possible inside the vanilla frame. Expect real speeds (in knots), real RELATIVE TO EACH OTHER performance (with a bit of salt).
What does this mod change?:
first of all speed. Speed is king. Speed is life. Gotta go fast.
The speed of every ship is modified to historical data. From destroyers to carriers the speed set is maximum speed because thats what is important in combat.
Then IC cost. The cost is rebalanced to be more relative to the typical tonnage of the class. That means for example that destroyers 1 cost 800 and are cheap as dirt. They are also not very useful outside of patrols. Light cruiser 1 are also not very good in raw firepower but they are cheaper (usually not higher than 7.000 tons). This also helps with minor nations to build up a sizeable but outdated ship easier. It's more realistic too.
For submarine 1-3 they have the cruiser speed, because those are not good for fleet fight even if japanese tried with some success and a lot of failures to do it. Submarines 4 are what you want with good speed and good evasion. those start being very useful at fleet combat (in theory)
-A very detailed OOB with every ship in in 1936 with its own class and performance. This mod was going to be a standalone very simple modification but my OCD forced me to either yell each time i started the game OR make a OOB.
This part of the mod is derived from the extremely detailed Axe99 modhttp://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=700231115. its not exact, because we both interchange some thoughts, but overall i use his resources to fine tune the OOB and the variants. This mod (mine) does a complete naval rebalance but his does not. That means his mod is more compatible with patches and whatnot and mine is HELL incarnate. That also means mine will take more time to finish but time to time i will get there ( i hope)
In the end the differences will be minimal, just the variants set with the right upgrades to match historical speed and performance. Check his mod if you are impatient and / or dont want a complete rebalance.
- Destroyers are now destroyers and not light cruisers lite. They start cheap and not very powerful and end being very good escorts.
-light cruisers now are good as long range screens and for AA
-Heavy cruisers are good vs other cruisers and have some AA cover (non upgradable) they are also costlier
-Battlecruisers are now battlecruisers and not battleship lite:
1922 model have the same weapon stats as the battleship 1922 one but its very brittle with low armor (just enough to protect from heavy cruisers) and low hp.
1940 model is a cruiser killer. Same caliber as 1922 but higher attack. Its the typical B-65, Alaska or pocket battleship.
-Battleships are now rebalanced around armor and penetration. Sea attack scales now better and there is a competition between armor and penetration upgrades. both start at the same for the base ship and each upgrade increase the same quantity.
Battleship 1 are the early interwar / post jutland battleship super dread if possible.
Battleship 2 are those good battleships that are not good enough to be ww2 full battleships but can compete well
Battleship 3 are good fast battleships or too good for being in battleship 2
Battleship 4 are late war designs
Superheavy battleships are now much better but still balanced with historical performance (like everything here). the 1936 raw model can fight a win a 1944 battleship raw model. You want to get down that ship? either get a 1944 variant very upgraded or bring planes. Dont have neither? i have bad news for you. Still, even with planes it have the best AA of all ships. Dont expect a 72k ton ship go down like a dead fish IF it have proper screens.

Please note that superheavy battleships are not buffed illogically. they are much better in armor and hitpoints and a bit more in penetration than 1944 battleships. They are also much slower and can be closed in and gang with torpedos. 1944 battleships are what? 50ktons? 1936 are 72kt. yep.
-Carriers rebalanced.
Carrier 1 are now light carrier variants
Carrier 2 are the first full carriers and often rebuilds, thats why they have more armor than later ones.
Carrier 3 are the typical ww2 carrier
Carrier 4 are the late war / post war carrier.
-Rebalanced the upgrades increases to widen it. This way i can set each ship with its historical speed / performance / planes.
